Kimberly Harvey: Ms. Wheelchair North Carolina

Kimberly Harvey, a native of North Carolina, has over 12 years of Spanish
teaching and tutoring experience. She is a graduate of Thomas Edison State
College in Trenton, New Jersey, where she obtained a BA degree in Foreign
Languages with a special concentration in Spanish Language and Literature.
She is currently working as a part-time virtual translation manager for
TECTRAD Translations, Inc.
Kimberly was crowned Ms. Wheelchair North Carolina in March of 2003. She is
now the North Carolina State Coordinator. Kimberly now resides in Durham,
North Carolina.

In addition, Kim is an elder at St. John's Presbyterian church in
Durham, NC.
"My grandmother Harvey did so much for me when I was very young. She was also the foundation of my faith and would tell me Bible stories. As for my mother, when I would get real low, she would say, “God has a plan for you. There’s something out there; you just need to
reach for it.”
Kim is the proud aunt to David, Aaron and
Stella. She lives with her mother and brother and have a big brown bull-dog named Akasha (Kasha for
short)

"I don’t want to just sit on a float and wave. I want to encourage people with disabilities to get out there and do whatever
they can."
A local magazine, the Urban Hiker, did a cover story on
Kim.
