Jackie Heinz

Ms. Wheelchair Iowa 2006

Ms. Wheelchair Iowa 2006 is Jackie Heinz

Jackie (Spece) Heinz was born in 1981 with a genetic form of Muscular Dystrophy called Spinal Muscular Atrophy. She has two brothers who were also born with SMA.

Jackie grew up on a small dairy farm in Independence, Iowa. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. in Health Promotion and Dance. Due to the wonderful support of her dance instructors, Jackie applied and was accepted to Bates Dance Festival. Bates is one of the top three prestigeous dance programs in the United States. While at Bates, Jackie had the opportunity to dance with several non-disabled companies and also performed a piece with AXIS Dance Company,  which is known world-wide for their integrated dance work.

This past year, Jackie has been serving as MDA of Northern Iowa's Personal Achievement Award winner. Over the next year, Jackie will be working to increase awareness of the benefits associated with recreational equestrian activities for disabled persons.

Would you like Jackie to participate at your special event? She would love to receive an invitation.
Send your request and she will have a look in her calendar if she still has the date open.
