Hello Everyone,

My name is Stephanie Sharp, Im from Owensboro, Kentucky. I recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from Murray State University in May with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Relations, with a minor in Political Science. While attending Murray State, I served as Vice President of the Public Relations Student Society of America and was an active member of the American Advertising Federation. I think being a part of these organizations, has given me the opportunity to gain valuable experience as a public speaker, which helped me become a better representative for individuals with disabilities in Kentucky. Not only did I gain a valuable education during college, but I also was given opportunities to advocate for the rights of students with physical and learning disabilities on campus and within the local community. These experiences are what inspired me to become a contestant in the Miss Wheelchair Kentucky Pageant.

During my reign as Ms. Wheelchair Kentucky I have had the opportunity to speak at many different functions such as the Special Olympics and work with many nonprofit organizations, including the Commission for Children with Special Health Care Needs and the Owensboro Special Equestrians, a nonprofit organization that provides therapy for children with mental and physical disabilities through horseback riding.

I was born three months premature and as a result I was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy when I was three months old. I have always strived to be successful and to make a difference in the lives of others.
I am very excited about being a part of the Miss Wheelchair America Pageant 2005 and discussing important issues that affect individuals with disabilities.

See you in Virginia!

Sincerely,

Stephanie Sharp

Ms Wheelchair Kentucky 2004
