Kristie Thomas: Ms. Wheelchair Texas 2006

Howdy!

My name is Kristie Thomas, and I am the current Ms. Wheelchair Texas. Born and raised deep in the heart of Texas (or at least the Dallas area), I have a fairly small family consisting of my parents and my younger brother. Until the last few years, we were the only family members in our extended family that lived in Texas.

I'm a graduate of Texas A & M University with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. I'm about as Texan as they come, although I substitute the country music for 80's hits and one-hit wonders. I don't ride a horse to work or to my speaking engagements, but I do have a van that is just as stubborn, that I affectionately call "The Green Bean." Oh, the adventures we've had!

My current hobbies, when I'm not working as a technical writer, include preparing for a stand-up comedy routine here in my hometown and working towards my Christian fashion clothing line, which will hopefully be coming soon.

I am also very involved in my Catholic faith, which I credit as my driving force when advocating on behalf of individuals with disabilities. I believe that every human life should be valued and it is our duty to ensure the best quality of life is given to everyone.
