Misty Dawn Yanish: Ms.
Wheelchair Minnesota, 2004
Misty will be part of an annual fundraising event at the Mall of America entitled Roll & Stroll for Fraser. Fraser is a non-profit organization serving children of all abilities and adults with special needs. This multi-faceted human service organization provides direct services, information and support in the areas of education, housing and health care.

Fraser serves thousands of Minnesota's most
vulnerable citizens each year, including:
- children with more than 60 different types of
physical and cognitive disabilities and disorders;
- children who are at risk for abuse and neglect;
- children with autism and severe emotional and behavioral disorders;
- parents and families of children with typical needs and special needs; and
- adults with developmental disabilities.
Fraser has an annual fundraising event at the Mall of America entitled Roll & Stroll for Fraser where family, friends and the public are encouraged to secure pledges and either roll or stroll around the main level of MOA. This year's event is scheduled for Saturday, January 29, 2005 beginning at 8 a.m. We will have continental breakfast items, games for kids, some special performers and more.

My name is Misty Yanish. I am 21 years old.
I am Ms.Wheelchair MN 2004. The mission of the Ms. Wheelchair America program is to provide an opportunity for women of achievement who utilize wheelchairs to successfully educate and advocate for individuals with disabilities.
Now being Ms. Wheelchair Minnesota, I have to take part in the Ms.
Wheelchair America 2005 pageant. The pageant will be July 27th - August 1st in
Richmond, VA. My entry fee is $1100. I need to send $650 of it there by
May 14th and the remaining must be sent by June 11th. If any family, friends, or local businesses are willing to support me by donations, or by transportation, that would be awesome.

Misty Yanish of Maple Lake Crowned
Pageant held at Maple Grove Senior High School
Minneapolis, MINN. – On Saturday, April 17th, the Ms. Wheelchair Minnesota organization held their 2004 pageant at Maple Grove Senior High School. In a small ceremony, Misty Yanish of Maple Lake was crowned Ms. Wheelchair Minnesota 2004.
“I am very happy and will do my best for all of us out there that utilize wheelchairs and other disabilities,” said Yanish about her new title.

Yanish will represent Minnesota at the Ms. Wheelchair America 2005 pageant in Richmond,
VA, where she will also compete against 27 other Ms. Wheelchair titleholders for the title of Ms. Wheelchair America. As Ms. Wheelchair Minnesota 2004, Yanish will also be available to speak with businesses, organizations, school groups and other members of the community to promote disability awareness and advocate for people with disabilities.
Yanish is a 21-year-old with Cerebral Palsy and hails from Maple Lake. She currently resides in St. Cloud, where she is a student at St. Cloud Technical College, pursuing a degree in Child & Adult Development & Education. Amongst her achievements are being a two-time high school letter recipient for managing the Maple Lake High School basketball team and being named “Who’s Who Among American High School Students” in 2002.

The Ms. Wheelchair America is a program for women who are U.S. citizens ages 21 – 60 who use a wheelchair on a daily basis. The mission of the Ms. Wheelchair America Program is to provide an opportunity for women of achievement who utilize wheelchairs to successfully educate and advocate for individuals with disabilities. It is important to understand that Ms. Wheelchair America/Ms. Wheelchair Minnesota is not a beauty pageant. Contestants are judged on their accomplishments, self-perception, and self-projection and communication skills in personal and on-stage interviews with a team of judges.
